As elsewhere in Europe, the railways were constructed along river valleys, and communities gradually developed an interdependence with rail transport. Today trains service every town and city in the country, and a large number of villages too. In fact, with over 1000 stations on the network, you can easily take a train to any destination of your choice. With relatively few car owners compared with Western Europe, the train is a preferred mode of travel for the majority of Romanians, and the infrastructure is being constantly overhauled and modernised.
Two Gateways
We specialise in arranging and operating trains that tour Transylvania from the gateways of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Targu Mures in Romania, and Budapest in Hungary. We are also planning trips which connect with the Bulgarian "Corona" Royal Train. These trains can be in almost any configuration or composition starting with a minimum of 36 people. There are five kinds of possible trains we offer, some with a steam locomotive for all or part of the journey. (See our Journeys page)...

Bucharest - Gara de Nord
The Romanian Royal Train
This is our premium product. We are proud to be associated with a train that's well-connected with European history, and which has been so well preserved. It is based in Bucharest, and we operate tours with The Royal Train to all parts of Romania, but specialise mainly in tours to Transylvania. (See our Royal Trains page)...
The Royal Hungarian Express
The Royal Hungarian Express is based in Budapest, and consists of a variety of carriages from different eras, some of which have carried Royalty and Presidents. We operate this train directly to Transylvania, across the Hungarian Plain, and particularly enjoy the historic Wagon-Lits Piano-Bar which was constructed in 1916. (See our Royal Trains page)...

CFR Business Class
Other Chartered Trains
We have developed a good relationship with Romanian Railways (CFR), and have gained an excellent knowledge of Romanian timetable operation, and the various kinds of rolling-stock available. These can include regular passenger stock, sleeping-cars, dining-cars or Siemens Desiro trainsets. A recent addition are the excellent "Business Class" carriages, that provide a luxurious ambiance which is ideal for chartered trains. There are also two rather interesting steam-hauled nostalgia trains which can be chartered. (See our Steam page). These both operate between Bucharest and Snagov - the reputed resting-place of Vlad Tepes - otherwise known as Count Dracula.

Modern Inter-city Carriages
Rolling-stock attached to existing trains
Finally, subject to speed restrictions, we can attach privately-chartered rolling stock to most express trains. This is obviously more suitable for conveying a large number of people to a single destination.
Whatever your requirement, you can be sure that we will offer a thoroughly professional service, to make your rail tour of Transylvania the holiday of a lifetime.
